Hello, thank you for visiting my website. I am a mum and step mum and live in North Wales with my family. I have been a primary school teacher for over 20 years. Shortly after turning 40, I was diagnosed with a brain tumour. Despite all my experience of working with children, deciding if, what and how to tell our 6 year old son was one of the toughest experiences. I've had several surgeries resulting in a significant impact on my daily life. The 'new' me has also had a huge impact on my family. So, I decided that a book written specifically for young children could provide a gentle starting point for those difficult discussions.
Thanks to support from from family and friends, I have donated free copies of 'Mummy has a Lump' to many UK libraries, schools, hospitals and charities for people to access for free and I continue to do this.
Please use the contact form below with the address of your local UK library, if they do not have a copy and you would like to access a copy of Mummy has a lump via your library.
So far, in additional to schools and charities, copies have been donated to: Conwy libraries; Swadlincote Library Derbyshire; Ashton Library Tameside; Brigg and Scunthorpe libraries N. Lincolnshire; Liverpool Central Library; Macmillan centres accross North Wales; Brain Tumour Support; Brain Trust, Tenovus; Denbigh Library; Wrexham Library; Storyhouse library, Chester; BCUHB Hospital Libraries and Cancer Nurse Specialists at Ysbyty Glan Clwyd; Ysbyty Gwynedd and Ysbyty Maelor; Maggie centres (Cardiff and Royal Marsden)
I am privileged to have been invited to chat with Brain tumour charity support workers about my experiences of being a parent with a brain tumour diagnosis. The difficult decisions about if and what to tell children is something so many parents diagnosed with difficult illnesses have to consider and is something we discussed on a podcast recording.
