A beautifully written and illustrated book, with just the right amount of detail to help aid a very difficult conversation. I highly recommend and am hugely grateful to the author for its creation. Really helped me and my son."

Why I wrote 'Mummy has a Lump'

I was diagnosed with a brain tumour when my son was 6 and I struggled to know how to tell him. The lack of help with this inspired me to create a book to support telling young children that Mummy has a 'lump' without using the words tumour or cancer.
I understand not everyone will choose this path, but for those who do, t
he illustrated poem is aimed at children aged approximately 3-8 years, which can be read together as a supportive way to open discussions.

I have also created a version for Daddies and a Welsh language edition, all books are available internationally through Amazon.

The books include a description for adults of my own experiences of telling my family.

Over the years I've had numerous surgeries, procedures, and medications to treat and help me continue to live with the effects of my brain tumour. During my treatment and recovery journey I've made lots of lists. I've created lists of questions to ask my consultants, only to lose them or forget to take them. I like to keep track of medication and the side effects, as well as how my symptoms change over time. I started to keep a medical journal, one place to jot down all my health-related thoughts and it has helped me. It has enabled me to feel prepared for appointments, which has empowered me. It has also helped me monitor my progress, as slow progress can often feel like no progress.

So, this notebook prompts you to write appointments, questions, medication, symptoms, and any other aspects of your treatment or recovery and is available here. You can use this notebook to record your treatment or recovery journey.
